Last Minute School Dance

Sound Decision received a last minute call less than a week before a local school dance planned for last Friday, June 12, 2010. Apparently, there was a misunderstanding regarding hiring a DJ, and Sound Decision was able to work them into the schedule. The kids ended up having a great end of year dance and the staff were thrilled to have been able to secure a last minute during the day dance booking. It was a win win situation for me and for the kids!

Wet,Yet Perfect,June Wedding

This past weekend, the perfect setting for an outdoor wedding was inplace, when mother nature decided that it was time for the skies to open and water the lawn! So, we ended up with a perfect wedding indoors!! All systems were inplace and ready when a severe thunderstorm warning became a reality. Quickly, the decision was made to move the wedding indoors and the ceremony went off without any delay or even noticable change. That's how we roll! There are no problems, only cicumstances that require attention. Fauquier Springs Country Club staff and I worked together to make sure the day was as perfect as the bride could have ever imagined. After the rains cleared, we were able to secure a golf cart for the photographer to get the couple to the outside areas for pictures and memories. Instead of a day of what could have been, the bridal couple will have memories of a beautiful wedding with both grandmas on the dance floor during the reception. Dinner was wonderful and the evening ended on a high note with the limos taking them off into the night to start their lives together as Mr. & Mrs. Yet, another happy ending to what could have been a mess. Sound Decision was glad to be a part of the wedding!

This past weekend was filled with activity! Oddly enoughly, the highlight was an elementary school dance for third graders at a local elementary school. Sounds silly, but my two hours of DJ Service is one of the grand prizes for the kids. The proceeds benefit the PTO and the cost is free! We use the gym and a couple of volunteers, as well as the parents, to chaperone the well attended event. The kids love to have a "real" DJ for their party. I add a few glow sticks and some well placed kid music to the typical participation dances - and always surprise then by dancing with them!! I pulled the principal into the act this year and Mrs. Bridges danced the Cha Cha Slide. How cool is that- your principal dancing at your own personal dance!! The bonus for me is having to keep up with the lastest Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Hannah Montana and Jonas Bros music! I appreciate being a part of this event for my local school system. If only I had more time to volunteer!! This is my future generation of brides (and grooms)!

Just in from a beautiful spring wedding at the Marriott Ranch in Hume, Virginia. Marriott is a terrfic venue in the spring- fresh green grass and everything coming to life. There were a few sprinkles, which the bride and groom were able to take in stride. The staff at Marriott is easy going and professional. Marriott has recently made improvements to the pavilion that make this venue both unique and desirable to the bride and groom looking for a special venue. The bridal couple expressed extreme gratitude for my professional services. They specifically commented on my lack of "CHEESY DJ" antics so often associated with hiring a DJ. The reception flowed beautifully - right on time - and the guests danced into the night! Best wishes Nancy and Brad for a long and happy marriage!

Wonderful Wedding on a VERY Wet Day

Lindsey and Eric were a great couple to work with on their wedding from the start to the big day which happened to be last night March 13, 2010. Having been in the wedding party of my Valentine's Day Wedding 2009 in Reston, they were totally laid back knowing I'd do a great job entertaining their guests and helping to make their day perfect. Fair Lakes Hyatt provided the beautiful wedding ceremony and reception venues. The guests tremendously appreciated that the ceremony and reception were in the same location. What a bonus that everyone stayed dry and warm while the weather poured inches of rain. The Bridal Party's tuxedos and gowns, and most importantly the hair and makeup, remained completely unscathed by the weather. The Fair Lakes Hyatt event staff, Mary and Nader, were especially congenial and accomodating. Even with the time change and wet weather, this wedding was picture perfect. Wishing Lindsey and Eric the best and looking forward to working at Fair Lakes Hyatt again, soon!

Tasting at Fauquier Springs Country Club 2/28/2010

This past Sunday afternoon, I was invited to a part of one of my favorite events- a "Tasting" for potential brides, grooms and their families. Many of the finest facilities offer tastings whether they are private or in a small group setting. The atmosphere is almost always relaxed and friendly with no high pressure sales tactics or gimmicks. Fauquier Springs offers bridal couples a beautiful venue and access to some of the best vendors in the area, myself included. I welcome their invitation to be a part of their events. Most of all, I enjoyed meeting many of my future clients who will include me as part of their wedding day. Thank you to Fauquier Springs Country Club for being the consummate host to area brides and vendors alike.

Busy Sunny February Weekend 2/20/2010- 2/21/2010

What a great weekend following extreme snowfall for the last month.

Rappahannock Hunt had a beautiful dinner and silent auction at Culpeper County Club on Saturday 2/20/2010. It was well attended and the group seemed to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and music. Culpeper Country Club had a great dinner buffet and dessert bar. Thank you for including me again this year. As always, it was a pleasure to work with Frank Dena and Kristen James of Culpeper Country Club.

Culpeper Bridal Show was held on Sunday 2/21/2010. This show was rescheduled several times because of record snowfalls in the area. Today's beautiful weather certainly helped make turnout tremendous. With an hour to go in the show, 263 people had registered. At times, there was standing room only. Three hour Bridal Shows are the way to go. Long enough to give everyone a chance to cover the highlights of wedding planning and short enought to keep it interesting. The show sponsored by Culpeper Star Exponent and held at Pepper's Grill at Best Western Culpeper is certain to be the first of many successful shows for the Star Exponent. If I would not have attended, I would not have believed what Culpeper has to offer local brides. I gave away an extra fifth hour worth up to $300.00 as a grand prize. This was won by one of my October 2010 Brides who was thrilled! I saw manyof my past brides, current brides and hopefully future brides at this show. Culpeper Chamber Mixer

I attended February's Culpeper Chamber Mixer at Ledos's Pizza last night Thursday, 2/18/2010. Ledo's has a great party room in the back for small to mid sized events. Tony from Ledo's was a great host along with the Culpeper Chamber's Young Professionals group. I appreciated the opportunity to talk with many fellow Chamber members. Sound Decision is participating in Culpeper Bridal Show on Sunday February 21st 2010 at Pepper's Grill in the Best Western Culpeper. the show is from 1pm to 4pm and is a great opportunity to meet local vendors- especially me. I plan to hand out 50 coupons for a sweet treat from Culpeper Colonnade's Chick-Fil-A for the first 50 visitors to my booth. Also, I am offering a free fifth hour added to your four hour event as a grand prize. Depending on your event location, this could be worth up from $125 to $300 dollars! I will honor this on any event for which I am contracted this year- even if your wedding or event is next year.

Also, Stonewall Golf Club in Manassas/Gainesville is hosting a Bridal Show the same time as the Culpeper Bridal Show. It runs from 11am to 4pm. Although I can only be in one place at a time and I had precommitted to the Culpeper Show, the Stonewall Bridal Show also will be worth your effort. Jeanna Hilton, Stonewall's Sales Director, is expecting a large crowd of brides and vendors for the show. I am a recommended DJ for Stonewall and highly recommend their facility for a great venue on the 29 corridor. Sound Decision off to a great 2010!!

Sound Decision has been busy in January 2010 with blogging and FACEBOOKING on a regular basis as a New Year's committment.

There are several highlights including the Culpeper Regional Hospital 2010 Drop It Health Fair on Saturday, January 25, 2010. This was a great opportunity for the community to come together and get healthy! David even signed up as a participant and is looking forward to creating new healthier habits.

The Culpeper of Commerce Social hosted by Yount Hyde and Barbour at Culpeper Country Club on Thursday January 21,2010 was a great opportunity to meet many new and old corporate clients. Can't wait for the weddings of several Chamber Business members this year. This is networking at it's finest.

The Dulles Bridal Showcase was held Sunday January 31, 2010. Great turnout for Hunt Country Celebrations, a group of the finest wedding professionals from Virginia's Hunt Country. Even with 8 inches of snow on the ground the event was a great success.
